DETAILS

Objective
Learn the basic principles of body work in Shiatsu, which are mobilization, stretching and pressure, according to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Learn how to apply these basic principles to the entire body. This course will offer the students a protocol of Shiatsu body techniques to be performed on a massage table lasting from 90 minutes to 120 minutes, on the front and back sides of the body. This is done fully clothed with no oils used.

Course Content

  • Exploring and using your body in performing a Shiatsu massage on a lower massage table. The types of movement used are: Center of gravity & the transfer of body weight.

  • Master certain Shiatsu stretching and joint mobilizations.

  • Experiment with pressure techniques on the body using the palms of the hands, elbows and forearms.

  • Know how to initiate and finish a Shiatsu massage: being present with yourself and with the other person.

  • Apply certain techniques to your own other type of massage (according to the client’s needs).

  • Complete a massage of 90-120 minutes.
